Robot training data from machine shops in Rajkot and Vadodara
Rajkot and Vadodara are full of machine shops, foundries and engineering works making pumps, engines, valves, castings and machine parts. The machines do the cutting, but people load them, check the parts and put them together. We record that work as egocentric video, multi-view footage and teleoperation data for robotics teams.
The hand work
Machine tending is the obvious task. An operator takes a blank from a bin, clamps it in the chuck or fixture, closes the door and starts the cycle, then unloads the finished part, blows off the chips and checks it. Between cycles they deburr edges with a hand tool and measure parts with calipers, micrometers or plug gauges.
Assembly is slower and more varied: pressing in bearings, fitting seals and gaskets, starting bolts by hand before tightening them to torque, and testing the finished unit. In foundries, workers fettle castings, grinding off the leftover metal, and sort them for machining.
This is data for robots that need more than one grasp: heavy parts and light ones, hand tools and gauges, and the checks a skilled machinist makes before trusting a part.
Where we record
- Rajkot
- Engineering units, foundries and auto parts makers. Machine tending, assembly and inspection.
- Vadodara
- Engineering and fabrication works alongside the chemical plants. Machine work and assembly.
Capture setups
- Head or chest camera
- The whole tending cycle from the operator's point of view, including where they look on a gauge or a screen.
- Wrist cameras
- How the fingers locate a part in a fixture, which is usually hidden behind the hand.
- Fixed rig at the machine
- Cameras mounted outside the guarding, for multi-view footage of the same cycle repeated through a shift.
- Teleoperation
- If you send a robot arm and its controls, we set it up beside a real machine and experienced operators run the cycle through it.
- Labels
- Step boundaries such as pick, load, clamp, unload and measure, tools and parts in view, hand keypoints and a short description of each action.
Consent and privacy
Every worker who appears in the data signs an informed consent form, and every factory signs an agreement covering what we record and how it can be used.
Shop floors have rules about guards and protective gear. The supervisor approves camera positions before we start, and nothing is mounted where it could catch in a machine. Drawings, part numbers and customer names can be kept out of shot or blurred, along with faces, before delivery.
Start with a pilot
Tell us which tasks you need recorded, the camera setup and the labels you want. We'll reply with questions and a plan for a pilot: a few hours of footage first, so you can check the quality before committing to more.
