Robot training data from chemical and pharma sites in Gujarat
Gujarat is one of India's main centres for chemicals and medicines, from the chemical estates of Ankleshwar and Vapi to the pharma companies around Ahmedabad and Vadodara. Between the reactors and the packing lines there is a lot of careful hand work. We record it as egocentric video and multi-view footage: filling, sampling, lab handling and packing.
The hand work
On chemical sites, much of the hand work is around containers. Workers fill drums and bags, seal and label them, draw samples and carry them to the lab. Containers range from small sample bottles to heavy drums moved on a trolley, and every one has to be labelled and logged. In the lab, chemists weigh powders, pipette and titrate, wash glassware and load sample vials into instruments.
Pharma packing is more delicate. Line operators feed blister strips and leaflets, fold cartons, check printed codes and pack shipping cartons. In some plants people still inspect vials and ampoules by eye, holding each one against black and white backgrounds and swirling it to look for particles. Most of this happens in gloves, and in clean areas, in gowns.
If you're building robots for labs or packing lines, this shows how trained people handle glassware, liquids and small packs while following a written procedure step by step.
Where we record
- Ankleshwar & Vapi
- Large industrial estates for chemicals, dyes and pharma. Filling, packing, sampling and lab work.
- Vadodara
- Chemical plants and labs alongside the engineering works. Lab handling and sampling.
- Ahmedabad & Sanand
- Pharma companies and their packaging lines. Carton, blister and bottle packing.
Capture setups
- Head camera
- For lab work and sampling, where the order of steps matters as much as the grip.
- Multi-view rig
- Fixed cameras around a lab bench, a filling point or an inspection booth, for repeatable 3D views of gloved hands.
- Wrist cameras
- Close views of pipetting, capping and handling vials.
- Labels
- Step boundaries that follow the site's own procedure, objects such as vials, pipettes and containers, hand keypoints and a short description of each action.
Consent and privacy
Every worker who appears in the data signs an informed consent form, and every site signs an agreement covering what we record and how it can be used.
Regulated sites have their own rules and we follow them. Cameras are cleaned and approved before they go into clean areas, and we stay out of zones where electronics aren't allowed. Batch records, product names and screens can be kept out of shot or blurred, along with faces, before delivery.
Start with a pilot
Tell us which tasks you need recorded, the camera setup and the labels you want. We'll reply with questions and a plan for a pilot: a few hours of footage first, so you can check the quality before committing to more.
